My three bestest tracks for The Big Paws Furtive Forty

The bestest radio show on the internets, The Big Paws, are doing 'an end-of-year Peelie-style show made up of your votes. It'd be best if the songs were Big Paws-ian (even better if we've actually played them).'

Here are my three votes (all three tracks have been played on the show):

1) "Kukkoloo (live)" by Ikscheltaschel

2) "Ozzy" by Drums of Death

3) "Billie Jean" by Ian Brown

Spotify playlist: Northern Soul Experience

Over the past few months, I’ve appeared in a weekly 1-song soul slot on The Big Paws radio show. The show, presented by Jon Bounds and Julia Gilbert, is on Rhubarb Radio every Saturday 8–10am.

Danny Smith, co-presenter of another radio show on Rhubarb, Technical Difficulties, asked if I could share a Spotify playlist of all the soul tunes featured on The Big Paws so far.

So here’s the playlist: HTTP link · Spotify URI

Not all of the tracks featured on The Big Paws are available on Spotify (there’s no Una Valli or Wayne Gibson, for example). There are also a couple of tracks where the versions on Spotify are slightly different to the version played on The Big Paws (Gloria Jones’ “Tainted Love”, for example).

Here’s the full track listing, as of 4th October 2009, of tracks featured on The Big Paws:

“Do I Love You?” by Frank Wilson
“Ain’t Nothing But a House Party” by The Showstoppers
“Tainted Love” by Gloria Jones
“(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by Una Valli (not available on Spotify)
“Come On Over To My Place” by The Drifters
“Agent Double-O Soul” by Edwin Starr
“Under My Thumb” by Wayne Gibson (not available on Spotify)
“Another Saturday Night” by Sam Cooke
“Just Ain’t No Love” by Barbara Acklin (not available on Spotify)
“Open Up Your Soul” by Jimmy James & The Vagabonds (not available on Spotify)
“Landslide” by Tony Clarke
“Our Love (Is In The Pocket)” by Darrell Banks (not available on Spotify)
“There’s A Ghost In My House” by R. Dean Taylor
“Trespassin’” by The Ohio Players
“I Wanna Be Free” by Joe Tex
“What Is This” by Bobby Womack (original version not available on Spotify)
“Soul Christmas” by Graham Parker & Nona Hendryx (not available on Spotify)
“More And More” by Little Milton
“Green Door” by Wynder K. Frog
“Let’s Wade in the Water” by Marlena Shaw
“Love’s Gone Bad” by Chris Clarke
“It Ain’t Necessary” by Mamie Galore
“Hold On” by The Radiants
